About

Hello! Thank you for visiting, I’m a Piano teacher offering lessons in Leeds and Bradford.

My name is Francesca Murray and I began learning the Piano from the age of 7 where I was born and raised in North East Lincolnshire. I studied Classical Music and Music Technology at A Level, before being offered a place at the prestigious conservatoire, Leeds College of Music. There I achieved a Foundation Degree in Music & Sound for the Moving Image, and a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Music Production, majoring in Composition.

I also hold my ABRSM Grades 1-8 in Classical Piano.

I’ve taught privately and in several well-established Music Schools around West Yorkshire, and in Summer 2017 set up my own dedicated teaching studios in Rodley, Leeds. I also teach from my home in Denholme, Bradford, as well as free Piano tutorials online.

As well as teaching, I compose music for media/theatre, have won numerous Piano Festivals around Lincolnshire, and occasionally perform as a live session musician playing Keys in bands with whom I’ve performed live on BBC Radio. I’ve even appeared on ITV soap Emmerdale as a wedding scene Pianist.

I’ve wrote/composed my first Piano book for beginners, The Ultimate Piano Course’ – Laying the Foundations’.

General information about lessons;

Lessons are taught in a Piano studio in a clean, interesting and relaxed environment.

All lessons are tailored to the individual, whether that be playing for pleasure or working towards graded exams (my students have a 100% pass rate!). I teach the ABRSM syllabus in Theory and Practical, both Jazz and Classical, as well as the Rock School syllabus.

I teach beginner to advanced, in many styles, as well as theory and compositional skills. I teach from ages 5+.

I provide some learning materials, though various books may have to be purchased.

I encourage rounded musicianship by incorporating a wide range of learning methods and skills.

To support my students’ progress and practise between lessons, I’ve created video tutorials via Youtube (‘Bitesize Piano’), which consist of useful topics such as Theory, Tips and Techniques.

I teach throughout school holidays (except Christmas and Easter) to ensure students keep up skill levels.

Once/twice a year, I organise a Student Showcase concert at a local venue (which is FREE for students and audience). This is an opportunity for those wanting experience of performing in a non-pressured environment, and gives students something to work towards. The concerts are non-compulsory, but highly encouraged!

I’m knowledgeable and passionate about what I do; my aim is to inspire my students! I pride myself on being friendly and approachable, so please get in touch and we can have a chat about what you’re looking to gain from Piano tuition.
